   Food Safety has become a global concern. Food being perishable goods if not properly handled in terms of processing, storage and distribution, can cause detrimental issues to our health as individuals. The growers can actually prevent on-farm contamination of agricultural produce for safe and healthy foods through the following agricultural practices

 Application of fertilizers and pesticides:Though the need for fertilizer application is key when it comes to the growth of plant, as well as the increase in crop production. Same goes to the application of  pesticides, which is also very key in terms of controlling weeds and insects that poses as threats to the crops. As much as fertilizers and pesticides are necessary for growth of plants and what are view, the amount of fertilizers and pesticides applied on the
farm is greatly important due to the adverse effect on human health, the food we eat etc. Applying fertilizers and pesticides in the right proportion is key so as to prevent our food from being contaminated after production.

Environmental conservation: The environment is vital to our well-being and we should as much as we can protect it. The soil, trees, oceans should be considered, and as individuals we can take the steps in protecting our environment through the following;

-Proper recycling and disposal of chemicals, this way our soil, water is prevented from being contaminated. The soil is very vital to us and should be managed effectively. The soil produces food for us and animals ,and as a result, if contaminated by chemicals due to absorption of contaminated water can reduce the quality of crops grown for our own consumption as well as for animals .
         As humans, we use soil and water all the time to grow food, fossil fuels, forest and woods which is vital for our everyday lives. Quality soil determines the food it produces, therefore, how we manage our environment is key for our own benefit.

                HOW TO KEEP OUR FOODS SAFE AT HOME

- Wash hands and surfaces thoroughly to prevent spread of bacteria
- Cook food at right temperatures, 40-140 degree Fahrenheit
- Clean kitchen surfaces often with disinfectant,
- Refrigerate food promptly. Bacteria can grow rapidly in perishable food
-Store food in a cool dry place
